God commands that we learn to put our hope in the Lord, regardless of the situation we find ourselves in here on earth. His command extends to all people, rich and poor, and in both instances he says we are to hope in the Lord and in the Lord alone. There is no place in the service of the Lord where it is acceptable to depend upon ourselves; depending upon ourselves is a turning away of the heart.
