Paul’s first priority was to fulfill the mission that God placed upon his life. He was very mindful that believers and non-believers were watching his life; he was careful to avoid any appearance of evil or seeking personal advantage. He took no support from the churches where he ministered, even though he knew it was within his rights as a minister of the gospel. God teaches in this passage that the support of the man of God is ordained and authorized and it should be exercised so that it glorifies God.

Choosing Christ is a personal decision that is not always well received by those we know. Paul experienced challenges because he came to know Christ as savior. He was personally attacked and so was his message. Still Paul was honored that God called him to take the gospel forward. God is still calling men and women to commit as Paul did.
